A reader that holds on to things

Most people keep two piles: the sites they follow, and the articles they meant to get back to. Kept is one app for both. Subscriptions on one side, anything you share into it on the other, and the same reader for either.

When a feed sends two sentences and a link, Kept goes and gets the article itself, keeps the readable part of it, and drops the rest. What is left reads the same on a train with no signal as it does at home.

Your reading stays under your control. No Kept account or advertising. Feeds and articles come from publishers; optional WebDAV sync uses storage you choose. The feed directory is hosted by Eight Point Labs, Reddit discovery sends your query to Reddit, and Google’s on-device AI library reports its own usage. See Kept’s privacy policy.

In internal testing. Kept 1.6.2 is on Google Play’s private internal track. It is not publicly available yet, and there is no public download from this page.

Follow anything

Paste a website and Kept finds its feed. Follow YouTube channels and Reddit communities by name. Bring your subscriptions over as OPML, or pick a few topics on day one and start with a curated set.

Save the whole thing

Share a page, picture, recording or PDF to Kept and it keeps it, cleaned up, with its text and images, so it is still there with no signal. EPUB books open as a collection of chapters.

Read it your way

Lay the feed out as a list, cards, a grid or a front page. Real typography controls, an immersive reader, speed reading, and the whole screen on a foldable. Or let the phone read it aloud.

Mark it up

Highlight a passage, write a note beside it, tag anything you keep, and search the full text of all of it. Export as Markdown or PDF, or export everything at once. Your writing is never locked in.

Quiet by default

Watch words tell you when a story mentions something you care about. Mute words keep the rest out. "Fewer like this" and one-tap unsubscribe sit right where you meet a source. Notifications stay off until you turn them on.

Yours to keep

Back up the whole library to one file and restore it on a new phone. Or sync through a WebDAV folder you already own, like Nextcloud, and keep pages from your browser into the same place. No Kept account, no Kept sync server.

Free week, then Pro

Try all of it for a week. Then pay once, or take your library with you.

First 7 days

Free week

Free on Google Play

Everything is on from the first launch, Pro included. No card, no sign-up, nothing to cancel.

  • Feeds, YouTube channels and Reddit communities, with OPML import and export
  • Save pages, pictures, recordings, PDFs and EPUB books, offline with images
  • Highlights, notes, tags and full-text search
  • Listen, speed reading, layouts and typography controls
  • Watch words, mute words, alerts and a home-screen widget
  • WebDAV sync, backup and restore

After the week, your library is still yours. Backup, Markdown export and OPML export keep working without paying, so nothing you saved is held hostage.

After the week

Kept Pro

$6.99 one time
No subscription

One permanent purchase through Google Play keeps the whole app working. It is tied to your Google account, so it comes back by itself on a new phone.

  • All of Kept, everything in the free week, for good
  • Newsletters straight from a folder in your own mailbox, no forwarding address
  • Connections: what you keep and highlight flows to Readwise, Notion or your own webhook
  • Send an article to Obsidian, or to your Kindle or e-reader as an e-book
  • Every theme, including Optical Glass and Sapphire Jewel

Purchases are handled by Google Play. Kept never sees your payment details and sends nothing about the purchase anywhere.

Read it later, and actually later.

Kept is an Eight Point Labs app, built and tested at home like the rest of them. Follow along, or come back when it ships.
